Background
R&B Brewing is one of BC’s original Microbreweries, having been founded nearly 30 years ago.
With the original founders retired, new ownership felt the time was right for a rebrand.
The Challenge
Products fall into two categories: “core” products that are brewed and sold all year, and “seasonals” that are offered short term, and that may or may not be recurring.
The client wanted to streamline the appearance of their offering with a system that unifies all their products, while still providing differentiation between the broader categories.
Design and production of the seasonal labels had to be streamlined, too, to allow for a large volume and quick turnaround of these short term products.
The design system was also expanded to their in-house food and beverage menus.

The Solution
The logo was updated to reflect their heritage, with a subtle modernization.
Bright colours, op-art patterns, and vintage-feeling typography provide the right balance of funky East Van style, while lending the system great shelf presence and findability.
Both core and seasonal products build on these elements for consistency, with layouts providing the required differentiation.
