MISSION MUSINGS: A peek through the pearly gates of the Mission

The smallest things can have a huge impact.

Today, to commemorate World Oceans Day (June 8th) our friends at Ocean Wise unveiled a giant prawn in the Vancouver Four Seasons Lobby! Unsustainable commercial prawn farming is having a devastating impact on the world’s ocean habitats, and this installation is intended to add to the dialogue on sustainable seafood harvesting practices. With the help of The Great Northern Way Scene Shop, we constructed the prawn from wood, wire, and plaster. Stop by the Four Seasons lobby today and tomorrow to learn more about sustainable seafood and touch some fun sea creatures!

Mike McDermid (fellow Uvic Alum) does a fantastic job in partnerships and awareness for ocean conservation. Glad you supported Ocean Wise.
